AISI 301 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel (17-18% Cr, 6-8% Ni) with high work-hardening capacity, used for springs, fasteners, and aerospace components requiring excellent corrosion resistance and moderate strength. Cold-working tempers (1/4 Hard through Full Hard) provide yield strengths from ~200 to 1,200 MPa with retained ductility, while Annealed condition offers lower strength for formability and subsequent hardening.
