AISI 301 and Related Stainless Steels 1/4 Hard
VerifiedmetalAISI 301 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel (17-18% Cr, 6-8% Ni) with excellent corrosion resistance and work-hardening characteristics, used extensively in aerospace fasteners, springs, and vibration-damping applications. The 1/4 hard condition provides intermediate strength through controlled cold-working, balancing improved yield strength and fatigue performance with retained formability for sheet and strip forms per AMS 5517.
