Colibrium Additive Stainless Steel 17-4PH is that maker's grade of the precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel, made by laser powder bed fusion and here in the aged condition. Rapid solidification leaves a fine cellular structure, residual stress and often much retained austenite, so parts are stress relieved before removal from the plate and usually solution treated before aging. Aging precipitates fine copper-rich particles that raise strength and hardness, though rough surfaces, support marks and some anisotropy between build directions remain. Parts include brackets, housings, tooling and fluid-handling components needing strength with moderate corrosion resistance. Every value on this page is read from Colibrium Additive's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
