Xact Metal Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 (Linde) is a Grade 5 titanium alloy powder that Xact Metal offers for laser powder bed fusion. As built, the rapid solidification gives fine acicular martensite inside columnar prior-beta grains elongated along the build direction, which makes properties anisotropic and leaves high residual stress. Parts are usually stress relieved before removal from the build plate, often hot isostatically pressed to close porosity and improve fatigue, and machined where the rough, support-marked surface matters. Printed parts serve as lightweight aerospace brackets and housings, lattice structures and medical device components. Every value on this page is read from Xact Metal's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
