Velo3D Ti-6Al-4V is the maker's grade of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy printed by laser powder bed fusion, here in the hot isostatically pressed condition. As built, it forms columnar prior-beta grains along the build direction filled with fine acicular martensite, and it carries residual stress and some internal porosity. HIP closes the internal pores and coarsens the martensite into a lamellar alpha-beta structure, which improves ductility and fatigue life. Surface-connected porosity and the rough as-printed surface remain, so they are usually machined or finished. Printed parts include lightweight brackets, housings and fluid components for aerospace, space and other demanding applications. Every value on this page is read from Velo3D's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
