3D Systems LaserForm Ti Gr23 (A) is a Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Grade 23) powder grade for laser powder bed fusion, here in the as-built condition without heat treatment. Rapid melt-pool solidification gives fine acicular alpha-prime martensite in columnar prior-beta grains along the build direction, so as-built parts are strong but less ductile than wrought material and anisotropic. Parts carry high residual stress, need supports, and have rough side and downskin surfaces. They are usually stress relieved, often hot isostatically pressed, and machined before use in aerospace, medical and industrial components.
