Farsoon 17-4PH is the maker's grade of 17-4PH precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel powder for laser powder bed fusion. As printed, the rapid solidification gives a fine cellular structure with residual stress, some build-direction anisotropy and a mixed martensitic and retained austenite matrix that depends on powder chemistry. Parts are usually stress relieved before removal from the build plate, then solution treated and aged to develop full precipitation hardening. Supports and surface roughness call for machining or finishing. Printed parts serve as tooling inserts, pump and valve components, brackets and other strong, corrosion-resistant industrial parts. Every value on this page is read from Farsoon's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
