YbOs₃ is a rare-earth osmium ceramic compound belonging to the pyrochlore or perovskite-like oxide family, combining ytterbium (a lanthanide) with osmium metal. This material remains primarily in the research and development phase, studied for its potential in extreme-temperature structural applications and as a candidate for thermal barrier coatings or refractory components where high-density, high-stiffness ceramics are needed. Its notable density and ceramic bonding make it of interest in aerospace and high-temperature materials science, though industrial adoption is limited and the material is not yet established as a drop-in replacement for conventional refractories or superalloy coatings.

RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 statuses are validated against official substance lists (ECHA SVHC Candidate List, OEHHA Prop 65, RoHS Annex II). Other regulations are estimated from composition and material classification. All screening is a starting point for due diligence — always verify with your supplier before making compliance decisions.
