· Yb8 S8 O4

Yb₈S₈O₄ is a rare-earth oxyulfide semiconductor compound combining ytterbium, sulfur, and oxygen elements. This is an emerging research material in the rare-earth semiconductor family, studied for its potential in optoelectronic and photonic applications where the bandgap and crystal structure offer advantages in UV-visible light emission or detection. While not yet in widespread commercial production, oxyulfide semiconductors are being investigated as alternatives to conventional oxides and sulfides in specialized photocatalytic, sensing, and solid-state lighting applications where thermal stability and optical transparency are required.

RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 statuses are validated against official substance lists (ECHA SVHC Candidate List, OEHHA Prop 65, RoHS Annex II). Other regulations are estimated from composition and material classification. All screening is a starting point for due diligence — always verify with your supplier before making compliance decisions.
