Titanium carbonitride (TcN) is a ceramic compound combining titanium, carbon, and nitrogen, belonging to the family of transition metal carbonitrides. It is a hard, refractory material valued for cutting tool coatings and wear-resistant surface treatments, where it offers superior hardness and thermal stability compared to titanium nitride (TiN) alone. Its nitrogen and carbon chemistry enables excellent adhesion to steel substrates and resistance to mechanical and thermal shock in high-speed machining and metal-forming applications.
