SmTa is a ceramic intermetallic compound composed of samarium and tantalum, belonging to the rare-earth transition metal ceramic family. This material is primarily of research and developmental interest for high-temperature applications where its combination of rare-earth and refractory metal constituents may offer enhanced thermal stability and oxidation resistance. SmTa and related rare-earth tantalate ceramics are investigated for aerospace propulsion, thermal barrier coatings, and advanced refractory applications where conventional ceramics reach their performance limits.

Regulatory Screening

Environmental

RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 statuses are validated against official substance lists (ECHA SVHC Candidate List, OEHHA Prop 65, RoHS Annex II). Other regulations are estimated from composition and material classification. All screening is a starting point for due diligence — always verify with your supplier before making compliance decisions.
