ScB4Ir3 is an intermetallic ceramic compound combining scandium, boron, and iridium, representing a high-density material in the boride family with potential for extreme-environment applications. This is primarily a research-phase material studied for its potential in high-temperature structural applications, refractory systems, and wear-resistant coatings where the combination of metallic and ceramic bonding characteristics could provide unique property trade-offs. While not yet established in mainstream industrial production, materials in this boride family are of interest to aerospace and energy sectors investigating alternatives to conventional superalloys and ceramics for applications requiring both thermal stability and mechanical durability at elevated temperatures.

RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 statuses are validated against official substance lists (ECHA SVHC Candidate List, OEHHA Prop 65, RoHS Annex II). Other regulations are estimated from composition and material classification. All screening is a starting point for due diligence — always verify with your supplier before making compliance decisions.
