SbPtO2N is an experimental mixed-metal ceramic compound containing antimony, platinum, oxygen, and nitrogen. This material belongs to the family of oxynitride perovskites and related structures, which are under investigation for photocatalytic and electrochemical applications where the dual oxidation chemistry and nitrogen incorporation can modify electronic band structure and surface reactivity. While not yet commercialized, such platinum-antimony oxynitrides are of research interest in heterogeneous catalysis, water-splitting systems, and photocatalytic water treatment, where the platinum component provides catalytic activity and stability while the oxynitride framework enables tunable light absorption and charge separation.
