Raise3D Premium PLA printed by fused deposition modeling is one maker's grade of polylactic acid filament, here in the conditioned state, with printed specimens held at a standard laboratory atmosphere before testing. Extrusion lays the polymer down as fused roads, leaving visible layer lines, small voids between roads and anisotropy, with strength across layers lower than along them. PLA warps little on cooling and prints readily without an enclosure, though overhangs need removable supports. Printed parts are used for prototypes, concept models, jigs, fixtures and lightly loaded parts kept away from heat. Every value on this page is read from Raise3D's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
