PLA (FDM, Prusa Research Prusament PLA)

Prusa Research Prusament PLA is a polylactic acid filament grade printed by fused deposition modeling, extruded through a heated nozzle as beads laid down layer by layer. Printed parts are anisotropic, with weaker bonding between layers than along the beads, and show visible layer lines and small voids between beads. PLA warps little, so it prints readily without an enclosed chamber, though overhangs need removable supports. Parts are used for prototypes, fit-check models, jigs, fixtures and housings that see modest temperatures and loads.
