Stratasys FDM Nylon 6 is a polyamide 6 filament printed by fused deposition modeling, here in the conditioned state, in which parts have absorbed moisture to equilibrium with humid air. Parts are built from fused extruded roads, so they show layer lines, some porosity between roads and weaker properties across layers than along them, and overhangs need removable supports. Absorbed water makes nylon tougher and more ductile but less stiff and strong than when dry, and slightly changes part dimensions. Printed parts serve as jigs, fixtures, tooling, snap fits and functional prototypes that must withstand impact and repeated loading. Every value on this page is read from Stratasys' own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
