Formlabs Nylon 12 Powder is a PA12 grade for selective laser sintering, in which a laser fuses heated polymer powder layer by layer into tough, semi-crystalline nylon parts. As printed, parts have some residual porosity, a matte, slightly grainy surface, and somewhat lower strength and elongation across layers than within them. Unsintered powder supports the part, so no supports are needed. Post-processing is mainly depowdering and media blasting, sometimes followed by dyeing or smoothing. Parts are used for functional prototypes and low-volume end-use components such as housings, ducts, snap fits, jigs and fixtures. Every value on this page is read from Formlabs' own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
