EOS PA 2201 is a general-purpose white PA12 powder for selective laser sintering, in which a laser fuses successive layers of powder in a heated bed. The surrounding unfused powder supports the parts, so no support structures are needed and parts can be nested throughout the build. As-built parts carry some residual porosity, a grainy matte surface, and somewhat lower strength and elongation along the build direction than in the layer plane. They are usually depowdered and bead blasted, and may be dyed, smoothed or infiltrated. The grade is used for functional prototypes and small series of end-use parts such as housings, ducts, clips, brackets, jigs and fixtures. Every value on this page is read from EOS's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
