PA12 printed by fused deposition modeling is a semi-crystalline polyamide thermoplastic, fed as filament and deposited through a heated nozzle, typically on industrial systems with a heated build chamber. The process leaves a layered structure with visible road lines, small voids between beads and weaker bonding between layers than along the deposited paths, so strength and elongation are lowest in the build direction. Warping from uneven cooling is controlled with bed adhesion and chamber temperature, and overhangs need removable support. Parts are used for jigs, fixtures, functional prototypes, housings and ducts needing toughness and chemical resistance.
