NiPdON2 is an experimental nickel-palladium oxynitride ceramic compound combining metallic and ceramic characteristics through nitrogen and oxygen incorporation. Research compounds in this material family are being explored for high-temperature oxidation resistance, catalytic applications, and wear-resistant coatings where the addition of palladium enhances chemical stability and the oxynitride phase provides hardness. While not yet widely commercialized, nickel-based oxynitrides represent an emerging class of materials for extreme-environment applications where traditional oxides or nitrides alone are insufficient.
