NbIrOFN

NbIrOFN is an experimental ceramic compound containing niobium, iridium, oxygen, and fluorine—a multi-component oxide-fluoride system that combines refractory metals with halide chemistry. This material family is primarily of research interest for extreme-environment applications where conventional ceramics reach their limits, particularly where chemical inertness to aggressive fluorinating agents and thermal stability are simultaneously required. The inclusion of iridium suggests potential for high-temperature structural or catalytic applications, though this specific composition remains largely in development and is not yet established in mainstream industrial production.
