NaGeSe is a mixed-halide ceramic compound composed of sodium, germanium, and selenium elements, belonging to the class of chalcogenide ceramics. This material is primarily of research interest for optoelectronic and photonic applications, where its semiconducting properties and potential for infrared transmission make it relevant to the chalcogenide glass and solid-state material families. Engineers would consider NaGeSe in early-stage development of infrared optics, solid-state ionics, or specialty photonic devices where its unique combination of elements offers advantages over more conventional alternatives, though industrial adoption remains limited.
