Mg7Sn is an intermetallic compound composed of magnesium and tin, belonging to the ceramic/intermetallic class of materials. This compound is primarily of research and developmental interest rather than a mature commercial material, studied for its potential in lightweight structural applications and as a reinforcing phase in magnesium-based composite systems. The Mg-Sn system is investigated for applications requiring low density combined with thermal stability, though engineering adoption remains limited compared to conventional magnesium alloys or established intermetallics.
