Mg5Sb is an intermetallic ceramic compound composed of magnesium and antimony, belonging to the class of metal antimonides. This material is primarily of research and developmental interest rather than established in high-volume production, investigated for its potential in thermoelectric applications and semiconductor device contexts where the magnesium-antimony binary system offers tunable electronic properties. The compound represents an emerging material in the broader family of lightweight intermetallic ceramics, with potential value in applications requiring combined thermal and electrical behavior control, though practical engineering adoption remains limited compared to conventional semiconductors or established intermetallic alloys.
