EOS NickelAlloy IN718 is one maker's grade of Inconel 718, a precipitation-hardening nickel superalloy, supplied as powder for laser powder bed fusion. Rapid solidification gives a fine cellular-dendritic structure with niobium segregation and columnar grains along the build direction, so properties differ between build orientations. Parts need supports and a stress relief before removal from the plate. They then usually receive solution treatment and aging, often with hot isostatic pressing, and machining of critical surfaces. Typical uses are gas turbine and rocket engine parts such as combustor components, injectors and heat exchangers with internal channels. Every value on this page is read from EOS's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
