LaserForm Ni718 (A) is the 3D Systems grade of Inconel 718 for laser powder bed fusion, a precipitation-hardening nickel superalloy printed from powder into dense parts. As printed, it has a fine cellular-dendritic structure with columnar grains along the build direction, niobium segregation and high residual stress, so parts need supports and stress relief before removal from the build plate. Hot isostatic pressing, solution treatment and ageing then close porosity, precipitate the strengthening phases and reduce anisotropy. Printed parts serve in gas turbine and rocket engine hardware such as combustor parts, fuel nozzles, brackets and heat exchangers. Every value on this page is read from 3D Systems' own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
