Inconel 718 (L-PBF, 3D Systems LaserForm Ni718 (A), as-built)

3D Systems LaserForm Ni718 (A) is that maker's grade of Inconel 718 nickel superalloy processed by laser powder bed fusion, in the as-built condition. Rapid solidification gives a fine cellular-dendritic structure in columnar grains along the build direction, with niobium segregated between cells and little age-hardening precipitation, so properties are anisotropic. Parts carry high residual stress and a rough surface, and are usually stress relieved on the plate, then hot isostatically pressed or solution treated and aged before service. They are used for gas turbine and rocket engine hardware such as combustor parts, fuel nozzles, brackets and heat exchangers.
