Hastelloy X (L-PBF, Colibrium Additive Nickel X, solution-treated)

Colibrium Additive Nickel X is a Hastelloy X grade made by laser powder bed fusion, here in the solution-treated condition. As built, it has a fine cellular solidification structure, columnar grains along the build direction, anisotropic properties and high residual stress, so parts need supports and stress relief before removal from the plate. Solution treatment relieves these stresses, dissolves the cellular segregation and recrystallizes much of the structure, which reduces anisotropy and improves ductility. Printed parts serve in gas turbine hot sections, such as combustor components, fuel nozzles and heat shields with intricate cooling passages.
