EOS CobaltChrome MP1 is a cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy powder grade processed by laser powder bed fusion, in which a laser melts thin layers of the powder to build dense metal parts. Rapid solidification gives a very fine cellular microstructure in the as-built state, along with high residual stresses that call for a stress-relief heat treatment, usually before parts are cut from the build plate. Overhangs need supports, and the rough as-built surface is commonly blasted, machined or polished where fit or finish matters. Printed parts in this grade are used for dental crown and bridge frameworks, medical device components, and wear- and heat-resistant parts for turbines and engines. Every value on this page is read from EOS's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
