Farsoon 316L heat-treated is Farsoon's low-carbon austenitic stainless steel grade, built by laser powder bed fusion and given a post-build heat treatment. As printed, it is near fully dense, with a fine cellular solidification structure, columnar grains along the build direction, high residual stress and rough down-facing surfaces, and overhangs need supports. Heat treatment relieves the residual stress and coarsens or dissolves the cellular structure, trading some strength for ductility and reducing the difference in properties between build directions. Printed parts are used for corrosion-resistant manifolds, valve and pump components, heat exchangers and tooling inserts. Every value on this page is read from Farsoon's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
