BASF Forward AM Ultrafuse 316L, sintered, is 316L austenitic stainless steel printed by material extrusion from a filament of metal powder in a polymer binder, then debound and sintered. The binder is removed from the printed green part, typically by catalytic debinding, and furnace sintering fuses the powder into a near-dense metal part, with substantial shrinkage that the print is scaled up to offset. Sintered parts keep the layer texture of extrusion and some residual porosity, and surfaces that need tight tolerances are usually machined. Typical uses are jigs, fixtures, tooling, brackets and low-volume functional parts that need the corrosion resistance of 316L. Every value on this page is read from BASF Forward AM's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
