Farsoon 17-4PH heat-treated is Farsoon's grade of the precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel 17-4PH, made by laser powder bed fusion and heat-treated after the build. As printed, rapid solidification leaves a fine cellular structure with grains elongated along the build direction, residual stress and a variable amount of retained austenite. Solution treatment and aging convert this to martensite strengthened by copper-rich precipitates and relieve residual stress, giving more consistent properties. Printed parts are used for tooling inserts, pump and valve components and brackets that need strength together with corrosion resistance. Every value on this page is read from Farsoon's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
