metalThis is a precipitation-hardened maraging steel—a low-carbon, high-nickel alloy designed to achieve very high strength through age-hardening rather than carbon-based hardening. The composition combines ~6% chromium, ~1.7% molybdenum, and ~12% nickel with small additions of titanium and aluminum to enable precipitation of intermetallic phases, producing an exceptionally strong but still somewhat ductile steel.
