YSiO is a yttrium silicate ceramic compound that belongs to the family of rare-earth silicate materials. This material is primarily of research interest for high-temperature applications, particularly as a thermal barrier coating (TBC) or environmental barrier coating (EBC) in aerospace and power generation sectors where exceptional thermal stability and oxidation resistance are required. YSiO systems are notable alternatives to conventional zirconia-based ceramics in extreme environments, offering potential advantages in creep resistance and chemical durability at elevated temperatures, though maturity and cost considerations typically limit current industrial adoption compared to more established ceramic systems.
