YPd₂ is an intermetallic ceramic compound composed of yttrium and palladium, belonging to the class of rare-earth-transition metal ceramics. This material is primarily of research and exploratory interest rather than a mainstream industrial ceramic, valued for its unique crystal structure and potential as a functional material in specialized high-performance applications. Its high density and intermetallic nature make it a candidate for advanced applications requiring thermal stability, catalytic properties, or electronic functionality in demanding environments.
