Thorium carbide nitride (ThCN) is a refractory ceramic compound combining thorium, carbon, and nitrogen phases, belonging to the family of actinide-based hard ceramics. This material exists primarily in research and developmental contexts rather than established industrial production, studied for extreme-environment applications where thermal stability, hardness, and chemical resistance are critical. ThCN is investigated as a potential candidate for nuclear fuel cladding, high-temperature structural components, and wear-resistant coatings—applications where the combination of actinide chemistry and ceramic bonding could offer advantages in radiation environments or conditions exceeding the capabilities of conventional carbides and nitrides.

Environmental

RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 statuses are validated against official substance lists (ECHA SVHC Candidate List, OEHHA Prop 65, RoHS Annex II). Other regulations are estimated from composition and material classification. All screening is a starting point for due diligence — always verify with your supplier before making compliance decisions.
