Tb8Hf is an intermetallic ceramic compound combining terbium and hafnium, belonging to the rare-earth transition metal ceramics family. This material is primarily of research and development interest for high-temperature structural applications, where the combination of rare-earth and refractory metal properties offers potential for enhanced thermal stability and oxidation resistance. The Tb8Hf system represents an experimental composition within the broader class of MAX phases and rare-earth ceramics being investigated for aerospace and extreme-environment engineering.
