Tantalum boride (TaB) is a ceramic compound combining tantalum and boron, belonging to the refractory ceramic family known for exceptional hardness and thermal stability. It is used primarily in high-temperature and wear-resistant applications, including cutting tools, armor systems, and specialized coatings where extreme conditions demand resistance to thermal shock and mechanical abrasion. TaB is valued over many alternatives for its combination of hardness and density, making it particularly relevant in aerospace and defense sectors, though it remains less common than tungsten carbide in general industrial cutting due to synthesis complexity and cost considerations.

Environmental

RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 statuses are validated against official substance lists (ECHA SVHC Candidate List, OEHHA Prop 65, RoHS Annex II). Other regulations are estimated from composition and material classification. All screening is a starting point for due diligence — always verify with your supplier before making compliance decisions.
