Sm₃Ru is an intermetallic ceramic compound composed of samarium and ruthenium, belonging to the rare-earth transition-metal ceramic family. This material is primarily of research and developmental interest, studied for high-temperature structural applications and potential use in advanced ceramic composites where rare-earth intermetallics offer thermal stability and oxidation resistance. Its combination of heavy rare-earth and noble-metal constituents makes it relevant to aerospace and extreme-environment applications where conventional ceramics may be limited.
