SeS7 is a selenide-based ceramic compound belonging to the chalcogenide ceramic family, composed of selenium and sulfur in a 1:7 molar ratio. This material is primarily investigated in research contexts for its optical and electronic properties, with potential applications in infrared optics, photonic devices, and solid-state electronics where its wide optical transparency window and tunable bandgap are advantageous compared to conventional oxides. Engineers considering SeS7 should note it represents an emerging material class rather than an established industrial ceramic, making it most relevant for advanced photonics development, sensor design, and specialty optical systems.
