PtScOFN is an experimental mixed-metal oxide ceramic compound containing platinum, scandium, oxygen, fluorine, and nitrogen elements. This research-phase material belongs to the family of high-entropy or complex oxide ceramics, which are investigated for extreme-environment applications requiring combined thermal stability, chemical inertness, and potentially enhanced electrical or catalytic properties. While not yet in widespread industrial production, materials in this compositional space show promise for aerospace thermal barriers, catalytic converters, and solid-state electrochemical devices where conventional oxides reach their performance limits.
