It is widely used in tire manufacturing, adhesives, and impact-modified plastics where moderate resilience and cost-effectiveness are priorities. Engineers select SBR over pure polystyrene when impact resistance and flexibility are needed, and over natural rubber when consistent synthetic properties and lower cost are advantages.
