MgF

Magnesium fluoride (MgF₂) is an inorganic ceramic compound belonging to the halide family, characterized by its ionic crystal structure and optical transparency across a broad spectrum. It is widely employed in optical applications such as lens coatings, prisms, and windows for ultraviolet and infrared instrumentation, as well as in specialized refractory and thermal applications where chemical inertness and thermal stability are critical. Engineers select MgF₂ over alternative optical materials when demanding high transmittance in the UV-IR range, superior chemical resistance in corrosive environments, or thermal durability in high-temperature systems is required.
