HfMgON2 is an experimental ternary ceramic compound combining hafnium, magnesium, oxygen, and nitrogen phases, belonging to the oxynitride ceramic family. While not yet commercialized at scale, materials in this class are being investigated for high-temperature structural applications and barrier coatings where extreme thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and hardness are required.
