EOS NickelAlloy HX in the as-built condition is a Hastelloy X powder grade printed by laser powder bed fusion and not heat treated after the build. Fast melt-pool solidification gives a fine cellular-dendritic structure with columnar grains along the build direction, so properties differ between build orientations. Parts carry high residual stress, rough downskin surfaces and supports, and the alloy is prone to solidification cracking. It is therefore usually stress relieved or solution annealed, often with hot isostatic pressing, before service. Typical uses are gas turbine combustor and burner parts and other hot-section components with internal cooling channels. Every value on this page is read from EOS's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
