Renishaw CoCr-0404 is a cobalt-chromium alloy powder grade from Renishaw, processed by laser powder bed fusion. Rapid solidification of the melt pool gives the as-built alloy a fine cellular-dendritic microstructure, retained largely as metastable face-centred cubic phase, with higher strength than cast material. Parts carry significant residual stress, so they need supports and a stress-relief heat treatment before removal from the build plate. The as-built surface is rough, and functional surfaces are usually machined or polished. Printed parts are used for dental crown, bridge and partial denture frameworks, medical device components, and wear- and heat-resistant parts. Every value on this page is read from Renishaw's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
