316L Stainless Steel (wire-DED, Meltio Stainless Steel 316LSi, heat-treated)

Meltio Stainless Steel 316LSi, heat-treated, is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel with molybdenum, deposited from silicon-enhanced wire by laser wire-feed directed energy deposition and then heat treated. Built bead by bead, it forms near-fully dense metal with columnar austenite grains along the build direction, some delta ferrite, directional anisotropy and a rough stepped surface that needs machining. The heat treatment relieves residual stress from repeated thermal cycling and reduces solidification segregation, though the columnar grains largely remain. Typical uses are near-net-shape parts, repairs and added features, and corrosion-resistant fluid-handling hardware, finish-machined after printing.
