316L Stainless Steel (wire-DED, Meltio Stainless Steel 316LSi, as-built)

Meltio Stainless Steel 316LSi, as-built, is 316L austenitic stainless steel deposited by laser wire-feed directed energy deposition from a silicon-enhanced welding-wire grade. The layered weld beads solidify into a dense structure of columnar austenite grains elongated along the build direction, with some delta ferrite, which makes strength and ductility differ between build directions. As-built parts carry residual stress and a wavy bead surface, so functional faces are usually finish machined. Printed parts in it are large near-net-shape components, fixtures and tooling, and repairs or added features on existing stainless steel parts.
