Markforged 17-4PH Stainless Steel is that maker's grade of the precipitation-hardening stainless steel for bound metal deposition, extruded as metal powder in a polymer binder filament and here in the sintered condition. The printed green part is debound in a solvent wash and then furnace sintered, shrinking substantially as it densifies, so parts are printed oversize. Sintered parts retain some porosity and visible layer lines, and critical faces and holes are usually machined. Typical uses are tooling, jigs, fixtures, functional prototypes and low-volume end-use parts needing strength and corrosion resistance. Every value on this page is read from Markforged's own material data sheet — quoted, cited and dated — and is the maker's statement about printed material, not a measurement by MatWorld; none has yet been reviewed by a person.
